Political News

Do it yourself censorship did not work in Maine. JoAn Karkos, a patron of the Lewiston Public Library, claimed that one of the books, It’s Perfectly Normal, was obscene, and demanded an investigation by police. Police were forced to investigate to see if the book violated the town’s anti-obscenity ordinance. It is a children’s guide to sexual health, and is one of the most often challenged books in the U.S. according to the American Library Association. The police found that the book did not violate any laws. Because Karkos claimed the book had amoral and abnormal contents, she refused to return it to the library. She sent the library a check, which they refused, and then charged her with theft.  She’ll be arraigned on December 18th. And because of all of the publicity, both local libraries have added additional copies of Its Perfectly Normal. Censorship the way it should work.

Mike Huckabee is lying. Again. We reported last week his slightly less than truthful response to reports of his involvement in the parole of a serial rapist. And on Monday, letters from 8 other victims of Wayne Dumond to Huckabee’s office have been released, along with official police reports making it absolutely clear that Dumnd was a dangerous serial rapist and Huckabee had to know it. That makes his involvement in Dumond’s release inexplicable, beyond just a case of poor judgment leading to the murder of two women, one of them pregnant.  He lied about his involvement in that case, and now Huckabee is denying that he ever said that people with AIDS should be quarantined. True, he did not use that term, but what he did tell the Associated Press in 1992 was “we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague.“  Since the word isolation is a synonym for quarantine, few people would see a lot of difference between the two, so his denial is clearly not honest. And he is either forgetting or lying when he claims we didn’t really know how AIDS was spread back then. At the time, we really did. As Huckabee’s past starts catching up with him, the need to be less than truthful also increases. He refuses to make the texts of his sermons as a preacher available. He did sign an ad that appeared in USA Today stating that “I affirm the statement on the family issued by the 1998 Southern Baptist Convention.” What was that declaration? A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband.” He’s not just against gay marriage, he’s against equal marriage between men and women.  I’m guessing he would not support a woman president. Beliefnet.com gave him a perfect ten on their theocrat scale. As Arkansas governor, he repeatedly pushed bridging the separation of church and state. He called Jerry Falwell one of Christendom's great leaders. He calls himself the Christian candidate for president, so I guess everyone else is a heathen, or perhaps they don’t believe that their reason for getting into politics is to take back the nation for Christ, as Huckabee said was his reason in 1998. He said recently that all civilizations that have allowed gay marriage have perished. He has recently said that his supporters prayers have been responsible for his surge in the polls, a frightening notion that prayer can take away the free will of others and force them to support him. But he’s fine with that. And of course, he says that war in the middle east is a religious war, something he is better prepared to fight because he has a degree in theology. He apparently believes the way to fight Muslim theocracy is to be a Christian theocracy. And a few lies along the way, well, all in the service of the Lord.

When Bush referred to the war in Iraq as a crusade, few knew that it would turn out to be so literally like the Crusades. Yes, many of the crusaders were essentially mercenaries, attracted to the opportunities for slaughter, rape, and pillage. They worked for the Pope, now they work for companies like Halliburton. There is lots of pillage and slaughter on the part of government contractors, the new euphemism for mercenaries, but they do one thing the original crusaders would not have done. They rape their own.  And what happens when Americans rape an American in Iraq? Really bad things. But to the woman who was raped, not the men who commited the rape. This is a story that is almost impossible to believe in its depravity, but its true. Halliburton/KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones was brutally gang raped by fellow employees. So how did the company respond? They locked her under guard in a shipping container for 24 hours without food or water, and told her that she’d be out of a job is she sought medical treatment.  She talked a guard into letting her use a phone, she called her father, he called his Congressman who called the State Department, and they rescued her from the container. The U.S. embassy actually had to rescue a woman from a U.S. corporation. An army medical exam showed that she had been drugged and raped both anally and vaginally. Raped so brutally that she suffered long term damage. The rape kit was turned over to KBR security officers, and then it disappeared. The State Department never moved forward with a prosecution, or apparently, even an investigation. The Congressman who intervened on behalf of Jones, Rep. Ted Poe, is unable to get answers about the case from the State Department or the Justice Department. Because Americans in Iraq are immune from local prosecution, it is unclear whether a prosecution is even possible as no one seems to claim authority over the situation. And now, over two years later, Jones’ only recourse is to sue to get justice. That may be denied her as well, as her employment contract stipulates that in any legal case she must use arbitration, a process without public records or transcipts, and a process that is almost always skewed towards the employer.  And she started the Jamie Leigh Foundation, because sadly, she is not the only one in this unbelievable, despicable situation. The doctor who examined her could not recall her specific case because she had seen so many contractor rape victims she couldn’t keep track of them all. The story of her ordeal, is currently being made into a screenplay, will be featured in an upcoming 20/20 segment, and Congress has started asking questions of the Justice Department.

Walmart has no problem refusing to sell books, magazines, CDs or even toys that don’t meet their strict moral guidelines. They pulled pull Maxim, Stuff and FHM from their shelves, the married pregnant Barbie friend Midge had to go, they sell censored version of music CDs. And while they absolutely have a right to choose what they won’t sell, they could perhaps be less arbitrary in their decisions. Case in point, the “I don’t need credit cards panties”. Or perhaps they consider giving women the message that they don’t need money as long as they have vaginas a moral one. And they were in the junior department.

A lot of conservatives have been incensed by Al Gore’s winning a Nobel Prize while their president has some of the lowest approval ratings in history and the opinion of many top historians that he will be considered one of the worst presidents in history, if not the worst. So right wing talk show host Michael Savage, known for his raving hatred of gays, this week attacked Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize win, saying that it was awarded to him by “the socialist perverts in Norway.” “90 percent of the people on the Nobel Committee are into child pornography and molestation “ he claimed. I wonder if we have any statistic on the number of times right wing radio talk show hosts simply make up statistics.

Entertainment

I think I love Jennifer Love Hewitt. She was a victim of snarky comments in the media about how she looked in a bikini after gaining a few pounds. She responded with this post: "A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful. What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist put on a bikini — put it on and stay strong." I don’t really get the promotion of an ideal of feminine beauty as boy figures with tits, but then again you can’t convince me that wrestling isn’t homoerotic. Hopefully some day we’ll encourage men to actually be attracted to women’s bodies.

We’ve always been fans of Jodie Foster, and having connections to the industry, have long known that she was gay. She has finally officially come out, at an event sponsored by the Hollywood Reporter where she was acknowledged as one of the top women in entertainment. For the first time, she publicly acknowledged and thanked her partner of the past 15 years, film producer Cydney Bernard. Welcome out into the sunshine, Jodie. I hope it makes things easier, not harder. Despite the few hate filled crazies, I think most people just want you to be who you are.

I enjoy swing parties, and I am a huge supporter of freedom of expression, so you would think that I would jump to the defense of the swing club called The Cherry Pit near Dallas. Authorities shut them down. I was very involved with a large swing club that the city of Los Angeles shut down, which was a travesty. One of the Cherry Put members stated “It's crazy that they want to force their morality down our throats”. Are you surprised that I support the city’s position and think that the people running the club are being dicks? Yes, swing clubs are shut down all the time over morality issues, as are strip clubs and anything having to do with sex. But the problem here is that this club was located in a private home in a residential community.  If you are having parties every week that bring over a 100 couples into your neighborhood, it doesn’t matter if it is a church meeting or a swing club- it doesn’t belong in a residential neighborhood. I do disagree with the way the city has handled this. They should have gotten them using zoning laws, not the insane law they passed based on the infamous Phoenix law that outlaws public sexual performance and then applies that to swing clubs. The city stooges would have gone after them if they were in the middle of nowhere, but because they were actually a nuisance, it makes it very difficult to fight unjust laws like the one the city passed.

Piracy is a huge issue in the porn industry. It is almost impossible to keep people from ripping you off. For some reason, AEBN thought it would be a good idea to create a porn version of YouTube, called cleverly Pornotube. They are now being sued by adult industry giant Vivid. The bigger danger of AEBN is that while I personally oppose the 2257 record keeping laws, they are still on the books, and they should worry less about Vivid and more about the feds.

And in whose getting naked now, Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice, has agreed to appear naked on charity T-shirts designed by Marc Jacobs. The nude picture has been described as tasteful, which is good, because otherwise you would not be able to go out in public with Posh on your chest. For those who have already made that leap that they don’t mind going out in public with posh on their chest.

Melonie Diaz and Nicole Vicius get naked in the lesbian radical feminist film the Itty Bitty Titty Committee, about a young women who works for a plastic surgeon who gets sucked into a radical group of feminists.

Tom Hanks has the tough job of being naked in a hot tub with Jud Tylor, Hilary Angelo, and Cyia Batten in the film Charlie Wilson’s War. This is the opening of the movie before it moves on to its mideast war theme.

Madison Cruz, Monica Ford, and Danielle Merrill are some of the girls at the orgy in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. There are a number of nude scenes in the comedy take off of music biopics from Judd Apatow.  It stars John C. Reilly and  Jenna Fischer.

She doesn’t get naked, but Winona Ryder does have sex with a dummy in her underwear. And how the dummy got into her underwear I’ll never know. Actually she does wear the underwear, and I’m assuming he sports wood, in the strange indie film The 10, a series of satirical shorts inspired by the ten commandments. And it is no stranger than having sex with a female love doll. At least this one can talk.

And Britney Spears is not getting naked. She would have, but the magazine thought she was too out of shape. So in her photos in Blender magazine that do a takeoff of the famous Bert Stern  photo of Marilyn Monroe in bed shot just before her death, it will be Brittney’s head, and someone else’s body.

This week in porn, and just in time for the holidays, is a Barely Legal Christmas. If you find sex with Santa just wrong, this may not be for you, but if young women exploring the Christmas season with some less than traditional festivities is appealing, this just might add to your Christnas cheer.

Also from LFP is Aussie Fuckfest- Canberra. You join Australian adult stars such as Jenna Taylia and Xena Star as they travel around the Australian outback in a motorhome. Australian porn may be the next big market, because if I am not mistaken, being on the opposite side of the world they all have sex upside down.

Porn legend Nina Hartley is back, emphasis on the back, with Nina Hartley's Guide to Anal Sex for Men & Women. Part of Adam and Eve’s long line of Nina’s educational tapes, she joins Kylie Ireland in a DVD that explores more sophisticated forms of anal pleasure beyond just the basics.

Terravision combines bondage and fetish with hardcore sex in their new Iron Cross line with their first production, Domination. It stars Hillary Scott, Annette Schwarz, and Gia Paloma. It is directed by Evan Seinfeld under the pseudonym Spyder Jonez. Former Biohazard band member and actor Seinfeld is married to Tera Patrick, and yes, he is related to Jerry Seinfeld. Tera Patrick will be this years hostess for the AVN Awards in Las Vegas, the big awards show for the adult industry.

The MILF category is still going strong, with the new release from Smash pictures of The Mother Load. It includes the comeback appearance of porn icon Amber Lynn.

If you are looking for a little break from the winter chill, Spring Break River Rats 17 may be just what you need to warm things up. It has lots of fun in the hot warm sun, with lots of outdoor sex. It comes from Sandy Bunz.

Whacko of the Week

Until we saw the last Republican debate, we did not realize that Alan Keyes was still running for president. Again.  He runs for president more often than Gulliani runs through wives. And because doing a Whacko of the Week on him is so easy it’s a gimmee, we’ll use this as an excuse to make him just currently relevant enough to merit being our nominee this week. He certainly wins the title on the merits though.

When Keyes went up against Barack Obama for the Senate seat he currently holds, he accused Obama of sponsoring legislation in the Illinois Senate to teach kindergartners about sex. That would be sort of a lie. The legislation Obama supported had "local schools informing kindergarteners that babies do not come from the stork" and "envisioned teaching kindergarteners about 'inappropriate touching.' " Keyes would just as soon kids not learn anything about sex from the schools, but if they must, it should be abstinence only. And apparently not disabuse kindergartners from the notion that babies come from storks.

Keyes stated that Jesus Christ would not vote for Obama because of his immoral stands on issues. One of his examples, which managed to slip race politics into the first Senate race with two black candidates competing against each other: he asaid that Barack Obama’s pro-choice views on abortion are  “the slaveholder’s position And he skipped the traditional phone call congratulating his opponent when Obama won. "I'm supposed to make a call that represents the congratulations toward the triumph of that which I believe ultimately stands for ... a culture evil enough to destroy the very soul and heart of my country? I cannot do this. And I will not make a false gesture," Keyes said. Compromise and conciliation are not something Keyes in known for.

In that campaign for the senate, Keyes stated during an interview that
homosexuality was "selfish hedonism" and that Vice President Dick Cheney's
lesbian daughter was a sinner, and a selfish hedonist. When criticized by fellow republicans, he said it was the media’s fault for asking him the question. All he did was answer honestly. As much as many of us think that Dick Cheney is the dark lord, he still seems to love his gay daughter. Keyes can’t quite manage that himself though.

Turns out that his own daughter is selfish sinful hedonist.. She outed herself during his Senate campaign at a rally sponsored by the gay rights group Equality Maryland, describing herself as a "liberal queer", which would make her doubly evil in her father’s eyes. She said she felt compelled to come out after the death of a friend who became ill after being thrown out by his parents when they discovered he was gay. So, her father threw her out of the house, refuses to speak with her, and cut off her money for college. He also said he would not be coerced into "approving of that which destroys the soul" of his daughter. He contended that he must "stand for the truth [Jesus Christ] represents" even if it breaks his heart. Cruelty in the name of Jesus. I think the baby Jesus is crying now.

Keyes really really really does not like the homosexuals. Which is ironic, because besides having a gay daughter,  the man he claims was his biggest influence amongst his professors was Allan Bloom, a professor at Cornell who was gay. His daughter, His favorite professor. Its like a big gay conspiracy. Which he sees everywhere.

You see, according to Keyes, the homosexual agenda is equivalent to totalitarianism. He states that, "Hitler and his supporters were Satanists and homosexuals." Except for the fact that Hitler was a professed Christian and persecuted gays on a massive scale. To Keyes, "The notion that is involved in homosexuality, the unbridled sort of satisfaction of human passions," leads to totalitarianism, Nazism, and communism. And maybe even ism ism. And, he says, it leads to the destruction of civilizations. Maybe he’s referring to the fall of ancient Rome. Which fell after it became fully Christianized and began persecuting homosexuals.

Keyes hardon for homos is hard to understand given his belief that homosexuals don’t even really have sex. He told a rally in Boston that, "It's not entirely clear to me you can call them sexual, because in point of fact, sex is no part of what they do. Real sexuality is about the distinction between male and female, as expressed in the body and its differences." Real sex apparently has nothing to do with those silly dictionary definitions.

Keyes is a very well-educated man, but he clearly skipped the logic classes. His argument against gay marriage, aside from the fact that it will destroy civilization, is, "Since marriage is about procreation, and they can't procreate, it is a logical requirement that they can't get married." Logical apparently using a system  of logic invented by Keyes. Of course he really does realize that gays can procreate, as he strongly opposes artificial insemination for lesbians. And his reasoning might hurt your head, so get ready to grab the aspirin. The daughter through artificial insemination of lesbians might accidentally meet and fuck her father. He said, "That means that an incestuous situation could easily arise in our society; it's more than likely to arise – not to mention every other kind of incestuous complication."  Okay, he also skipped the statistical probability classes. And the same argument could be used against adoption where the child does not know who his or her parents are. And adoption could lead to gay men fucking their sons. Maybe he’ll use that as another argument against homosexuality.

And if you are known by the company you keep, here is a direct quote from Guy Adams,  the deputy national grassroots director for Alan Keyes’ Renew America, “The newest thing in Chicago, it's becoming a trend—and you're going to find this hard to believe—sex with infants. It's not enough that they have—you know, when you engage in perversion, and homosexuality is perversion—we don't hate the gays mind you, we don't hate them, we hate what they're doing—pretty soon that perversion is like addiction, it's not enough, so you need to graduate to something else. You need to move on. So now they're having sex with animals, a small group that's getting bigger, sex with infants, sex in the street in Chicago out in the open—it's just getting more and more perverted. So, I just don’t believe that there are a lot of really, really good gays.” So apparently, homosexuality is the sexual gateway drug to bestiality and babies.

Keyes said, “In terms of civil rights discrimination, it is wrong to treat sexual orientation like race, for race is a condition beyond the individual's control. Sexual orientation, however, involves behavior, especially in response to passion.” That is pretty debatable, but I suppose it is logically compatible with what he does compare the civil rights movement to: the battle against stem cell research. He calls stem cell research the equivalent of slavery. Except the fertilized eggs he wants to protect don’t have a plantation, and never will have implantation. They are normally discarded

He strongly opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, even if it was rape by the father of the girl who did not know it was his daughter because she was born from lesbian artificial insemination. He supports a constitutional amendment redefining life as beginning at conception, which would outlaw anything that interferes with implantation, including some forms of birth control. He said, I will do everything in my power to overthrow Roe v. Wade and get us back where we belong in the acknowledgment of God.”

Keyes is an extremely conservative Catholic, and Keyes currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Catholic League. You can learn more about the leader of the Catholic League in our July 15th Whacko of the Week segment on Bill Donohue.

He’s also a theocrat, like Huckabee, who would see us become more like Islamist countries than like a free nation. Put the Ten Commandments and prayer back in school, get rid of the separation of church and state, recognize that our rights come from god and not the constitution, and, of course, get rid of the gays. Maybe it’ll be Huckabee-Keyes in 08. I can’t imagine a better fit.

Sexvestigation

I don’t really think of swingers being politically active, or having much impact on political issues. But they actually have. And a couple of important cases demonstrate this. One of them protected the freedom of artistic expression, and the other put the first nail in the coffin of the notorious 2257 regulations.

The Lifestyles organization runs the largest swinger’s convention in the country, and its convention in Palm Springs in 1998 featured a world class erotic art show. The art show was open to the adult public. Alcohol Beverage Control, more commonly referred to as the ABC, decided they would step in and stop the art show. The ABC regulates liquor licenses, tries to stop underage drinking, and has a long history of trying to regulate morality, from going after gay bars, and swinger and fetish events. The Palm Springs ABC agent told the managers of the city's convention center that merely opening the doors of the annual Sensuous &  Erotic Art Exhibition would result in the loss of their liquor license. Even though no alcohol was sold inside the gallery, ABC determined that they controlled everything that went on at the facility, even when alcohol was not served. With the help of the ALCU, they sued, and got an injunction to allow the art show to open. That did somewhat curb the abuses of ABC, but in another lawsuit over other abusive attempts to drive the Lifestyles convention out of the state and control public morality in California, an appeals court found that basically no one has jurisdiction to tell ABC what they can or can not do. And the convention moved out of state.

More recently, one of the biggest wins against the federal governments attempts at impeding the production of pornography, was won by a publisher of swinger contact magazines, Connection Distributing.

Swinger contact magazines often contain pictures, some of them sexual in nature, as part of the effort of swingers to meet other swingers. The onerous record keeping requirements of the federal 2257 law made it nearly impossible to continue publishing these magazines within the law and still stay in business.  2257 was supposed to keep under age performers out of porn films, an unnecessary requirement since that is already illegal, and it clearly had little to do with the content of swinger magazines. Even 50 years olds had to provide extensive personal information to meet these requirements. The law went into effect in 1995, then was reinterpreted by the current Justice Department in ways that have been battled in court by the adult industry since. It has been Connections, though, that has fought this law since the very beginning.

The law, despite its stated claim of protecting children, was actually designed to put additional burdens on the producers of sexually explicit adult content. The law made it almost impossible to produce this type of protected speech if you had a home based business. And it made the couples who took pictures of themselves into producers, with all the burdens of the record keeping law, a law so complex and ambiguous that the Free Speech Coalition had to take the Justice Department to court and have a judge force them to define what many sections of the law actually meant- often coming up with very different interpretations of the law from what they had declaed previously. And even a minor unintentional mistake in record keeping could get you sent to jail for years.

The sixth circuit court recently declared the 2257 law unconstitutional, and even though the ruling only currently applies to the 6th district and the Ohio home base of Connection Distributing, it sets a precedent that could well lead to the end of these ridiculous regulations.

And we have swingers to thank, and specifically, publisher Rondee Kamins, the woman who has continued to pursue this case for years at great personal expense for her company, to ensure greater freedom of expression for all of us. She makes me proud to be a swinger.
