Political News

Big news on the political front. This week, not a single Republican has been caught up in any type of sex scandal. The entire week. And its horrible. In the last few weeks, We had to do hardly any work to get our lead stories, and the jokes wrote themselves. This week we’ve had to work a lot harder, and frankly, we just can’t be as funny. You can’t top last week’s bobbing for Young Republicans, or offering to blow someone in a park bathroom and then claiming self defense, or even hookers and diapers. Please, guys, it’s so much easier when you write the material for me.

Elementary school children are being sent home with homosexual propaganda in their backpacks, with the consent and participation of the school. The head of the organization foisting this letter on unsuspecting children, Regina Griggs, stated ““We believe children have a right to all information about sexuality.” “It’s a typical tactic of liberals foisting their message of… oh wait. Its actually a flyer from PFOX, a conservative anti-gay organization that subscribes to the unsubstantiated belief that homosexuality is a disease and that there is a cure.  The school is Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland. The letter was sent out because of a 4th District Court ruling granting non-profit organizations the right to distribute letters in school. Distributing the letter was mandatory.

PFOX claims they are simply a group to support ex-gays. In other words, religiously tormented men and women desperately trying to be other than what they are, and at an extremely high risk for suicide which groups like PFOX seem to exacerbate. PFOX apparently wants little boys to know its okay not to suck other boy’s wieners. Of course, the letter is not that explicit, making them sound like a joyful group of support. That support ends the moment you go back to your evil homo ways. While the head of PFOX claims that they deal with scientific facts, no scientific or medical organization recognizes reparative therapy, and the idea that homosexuality is a curable disease or psychological problem has long since been discarded by anyone not on the nutsy fringe.

In fairness, the school is now also forced to distribute a letter written in response by PFLAG, a support group of parents of gays and lesbians that PFOX was designed to counter. DO elementary school age children really need to be in the middle of this battle between gay support families and families supporting their children as long as they are anything but gay? Can’t children just go on doing what they’ve always done, innocently exploring same sex attraction without anyone trying to give a name to it or inferring that it means anything other than juvenile curiosity that says nothing about their future sexual identity.

Former U.S. Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders said in Little Rock that the nation suffers from a "deafening" lack of sex education. She says one effect is of the silence is that it lets sex offenders prey on children. Perhaps she’s referring to sex offenders such as Republican South Dakota legislator Ted Klaudt, charged with raping girls under 16,  or Republican GRANITE FALLS, Minnesoat mayor Jeffrey Kyle Randall, arrested for molesting 10 year old boys, or fellow republican mayors  Philip Giordano, or Tom Adams, or John  Gosek, all arrested for underage sex, or Republican Congressman Mark Foley, or Republican Congressman Dan Crane, who actually did have sex with an underage page, Republican congressman and anti-gay activist Robert Bauman was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy he picked up. or Republican Party leader Bobby Stumbo  arrested for having sex with a 5-year old boy, Republican Party leader Paul Ingram pleaded guilty to six counts of raping his daughters, Republican chairman of the Oregon Christian Coalition Lou Beres who confessed to molesting a 13-year old girl, or Republican anti-abortion activist Howard Scott Heldreth is a convicted child rapist in Florida, or Republican anti-gay activist Earl "Butch" Kimmerling was sentenced to 40 years in prison for molesting an 8-year old girl after he attempted to stop a gay couple from adopting her. I am in no way inferring that Republicans are more predisposed to molesting children- its just that there are huge lists on the Internet of republicans activists and leaders who spew family values and anti-gay rhetoric who turn out to be abusing young children. These lists are huge. Maybe the less sex-phobic non-conservatives just have better and more appropriate sexual outlets.

A family lost a family member in Iraq, so his sister decided to use the local magachurch for his memorial. Before the service, they found out that the fallen soldier, Cecil Howard Sinclair, who died in service to his nation, was gay. Service cancelled.   “We did decline to host the service — not based on hatred, not based on discrimination, but based on principle,” said the Rev. Gary Simons of High Point Church in Arlington Texas. Their principles being those that allow and even encourage hatred and discrimination. The Church’s slogan is that Miracles Still Happen- the miracle here would be that Pastor Simons would ever actually read the bible and understand the message of love and compassion rather than his twisted interpretation. Baby Jesus is crying Gay.

Airman 1st Class Cassandra Hernandez told authorities that three fellow soldiers had raped her at a party involving a lot of drinking. After being subjected several times to intense questioning, she finally decided that the pressure was not worth it and was persuaded not to testify. Now that she was on the record of having sex with three men, but would not pursue the rape allegation, the military decided to go af6ter her. They charged her with committing an indecent act. Then Air Force granted the three male airmen immunity for their testimony against her. Her court martial is scheduled for September 24th. Now immunized by the government, it would be almost impossible to prosecute the men for rape now. They explained that the reason she was crying afterwards is because she realized that she was a slut. So, who provided the extremely strong drinks to the 19 year old, who was underage to drink in that state? And why aren’t they being prosecuted? Instead, they are also piling on charging her with underage drinking? And isn’t it insane that people can go to war and die but we consider them too young to drink? Cassandra still holds to her story that she was raped, and the Air Force still holds to its stand and long tradition of allowing horrendous sexual abuses against the women who serve. Tailhook is alive and well.

Entertainment

Angelina. What has that horrible man made you do? Angelina Joile claims that she has given up bisexuality and S&M for her man, Brad Pitt. Angelina, think about it? What man would seriously not want to see you with girls? Maybe this is Brad’s cry for help. Maybe he wants you to tell him what to do. And did you fail to notice that the maid outfit in the closet fit him, not you? Sure, he may go along with this insanity now, but dress him up right and give him the right punishment and I’m sure he’ll be begging mistress to let him see you with another girl. Begging like a dog.

It’s the "4th Annual Adult Film Star Ball," coming up this Saturday August 25th. It is hosted by

Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, whose has an interesting connection to the adult industry, including denying on his blog that he slept with Jenna jameson. Few of us wind up in the position of having to do that. The other main host  is Digital Playground Contract Star Jesse Jane. Its an 8 hour $45 extravaganza bringing together adult music and adult entertainment, showcasing over 40 of the world's top adult performers, four of the worlds biggest DJs, and 200 stunning "La Boheme" girls. Other co-hosts include Ron Jeremy, Jenna Haze, Nikki Benz, Shy Love, and Club Jenna Contract Girls Brea Bennett, Lela Star, Joanna Angel and Roxy Jezel. They’ve got more adult entertainers than the last Erotica L.A.  And all you have to do is go to La Boheme Gentleman’s Cabaret in downtown Denver. Denver?  I’m worried the girls might hurt themselves in that thin air. You do a pole spin and your head never stops spinning.

It seems that Dave Navarro’s entry into the world of porn goes further than porn music event hosting duties. From the world of strumming to the world of stroking, he is now officially a porn director. He helmed Dave Navarro: Broken, shot this summer for Teravision and starring Sasha Grey, Jenna Haze, Victoria Sin, Audrey Bitoni, Kayla Page, and  Lisa Daniels. The ex-husband of Carmen Electrais also the author of an autobiography, "Don't Try This At Home", and his autobiographical solo album "Trust No One", has gotten good reviews. For has much as he injects his life into his work, though, don’t expect him to interject any body parts. He plans to stay exclusively on the directing side of the camera.

Speaking of porn stars wandering away from L.A., we may be facing a serious problem here- runaway porn production. Vancouver based X Industry has announced its launch of X Industry Jobs.com, which is said to be the first Canadian based online recruiting firm. According to their press release, they want to help companies find candidates to fill openings, and they strive to acquire top talent for the positions its clients seek to fill. Oh, wait -I’m looking at the site and actually its just regular jobs in the adult industry, porn star jobs, and the jobs are pretty much all In California. Thank goodness. I don’t want to lose any of our porn stars here in the Valley- I really like going to lunch and seeing what they look like in clothing.

Somewhere, in a dimly lit room, writers are tasked with the enormous challenge of coming up with an even worse idea for a reality series. Somehow, they manage to do it.

The latest is a reality show called Celebrity Rehab, and VH1 is following "celebrity" drug and alcohol abusers like porn star Mary Carey, and former wrestler Chyna, who also had her own celebrity porn tape out. Joining them in rehab are Brigitte Nielsen, Tom Sizemore and comedian Andy Dick. They think seeing Andy Dick sober is going to be entertaining? Perhaps it will help us better understand their problems. For Mary Carey, the rigors of the campaign trail running for governor had to be grueling. And for Chyna, the rigors of watching her elicitly released porn tape had to be grueling. And for the openly bisexuial and often out of control Andy Dick, hanging around Chyna, Carey and Sizemore while sober is going to be grueling.

Hey Ron Jeremy. Maybe God is trying to tell you something. Ron was on the XXXCHurch tour bus when a car driven by a drunk driver slammed into it. He’s been traveling around the country debating the XXXChurch founder about porn. By doing these debates, Ron, you are giving credibility to one of the crazier but wilier fringes of the religion fueled anti-porn movement. XXXChurch holds out their hands in friendship to the adult community, saying they only want discourse, but their goals are the same as the Martians in Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks. They say We come in Peace, and then they blast you with a ray gun. This crowd is so crazily anti-sex that their positions on masturbation make John Kellogg look moderate. They encouraged the idea of every time you masturbate that God kills a kitten. It’s a message from god. These are crazy people. Ron, get off the bus.

Have you noticed that in movies and television, abortion doesn’t seem to even exist as a realistic option anymore. In the film Knocked Up, Katherine Hegel takes the father, played by Seth Rogan, with her to her OB-GYN where they both view the ultra-sound, thus eliminating abortion as an option. Viewing an ultrasound is what anti-abortion groups want to make mandatory for anyone wanting an abortion.  In the film Waitress, the character played by Keri Russell doesn’t even allow the doctor to say the word. And on the series Lost, a main character gets pregnant, but every pregnant woman on the Island dies. We never hear mention of the word abortion once. Sure, most counties don’t have accessible abortion anymore, but apparently on television and the movies, abortion as an option no longer even exists.

A new documentary titled Larry Flynt: The Right to Be Left Alone will be shown Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the ArcLight Hollywood theater. The film, by first-time director Joan Brooker-Marks, was created with the full cooperation of Flynt and access to all of his archives. The title of Right to Be Left Alone is taken from an important court opinion for Flynt given by Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis that the right to privacy provided by the Fourth Amendment includes "the right to be left alone."  Fortunately for all of us, that right to be left alone refers to individuals wishing to express their sexuality in the privacy of their own homes, to do and watch as they please. The right to be left alone does not include the hyprocritical anti-sex political leaders who make public pronouncements of piety while having secret sex lies that put a lie to all of their public pronouncements. They ask us to judge them on their morality, a call that Flynt has taken up by not leaving them alone, and exposing their sexual indiscretions. He only goes after and exposes the hypocrites, and he promises a lot more of that in the near future.

Sexvestigation

Accuracy in media. When it comes to getting sex stories right, what the writers write is often wrong. I read a lot of sex stories in newspapers, and am amazed by how often basic facts are completely wrong. And, of course, there are the other journalistic abuses, such as comparing differing viewpoints as if they are all equal. A perfect example is a recent story in the Washington Post by writer Rob Stein. I am responding here in an open letter:

Dear Rob Stein. I don’t know if you are old enough to remember when journalist actually did fact checking. You probably don’t even remember when they had journalists trained in science.  You may not even realize that in your error riddled recent Washington Post story called Plan B Use Surges, And So Does Controversy  the first mistake began with the very first line-  “The popularity of the morning after pill plan b has surged. “

I’m sure you thought that made for a snappy lead- except its wrong. Yes, Plan B use has surged now that it is available over the counter, but plan b is a form of emergency contraceptive, not a morning after pill. They are different, and the difference just happens to be really important. The sooner you take emergency contraceptives, the better, so your opening line actually could confuse people into taking the drug later than they should. They don’t have to wait for the morning after. Or worse, if they don’t take it by the morning after, they may assume that it is too late, even though it will reduce the risk of pregnancy if you take it within the first 72 hours.

Then you continue to demonstrate that you have little understanding of the product you are writing about. You say that plan b consists of higher doses of the hormones found in standard birth control pills. Except that it has progestin, a single hormone found only in progestin based pills. That’s even easier to write except that you’d have to check the spelling, andf it would be right.

You write that the FDA said there was too little safety data to approve the drug for teenagers younger than 18. Did you miss the widely reported fact that the whole question of under age 18 use was a political argument added by political FDA appointees and has nothing to do with safety? Or that the FDA does not explicitly test contraceptives on women under 18, ever. They have never tested the birth control pill that way, and yet countless women under age 18 get prescriptions. And not just because of the ethical considerations, but because scientifically they know that the drugs will work the same on all women capable of conceiving regardless of age. Despite our use of the number to signify adulthood, 18 is not actually a biological milestone in women’s bodies.

You state that Conservative members of Congress and advocacy groups questioned the drug's safety. Nowhere do you make clear its long history of testing and the concurrence of FDA scientists that it is one of the safest drugs ever put on the market. Ever. Scientists know how to figure these things out. Conservative members of Congress and right wing groups with antisex agendas don’t. What relevance is in there in questioning the drug’s safety when they don’t know what the fuck they are talking about? You make it sound like they do.

You say that opponents claim availability could make it easier for men to have sex with underage girls. That same ludicrous claim can and has been made for every form of birth control, and is almost too stupid to have repeated. Let’s try this- the availability of pornography makes it easier for men to have sex with underage girls. Or, the availability of alcohol makes it easier for men to have sex with underage girls. Or, the availability of cars makes it easier for men to have sex with underage girls. See now how repeating an imbecilic statement in different shows how meaningless it is. But of course, heaven forbid that you quote people, especially those with agendas, without any meaningful context or additional information to let your readers know if what they are saying makes any sense..

You say opponents of Plan B claim that it can cause the equivalent of an abortion. They could also claim that it can cause bluebirds to fly out of your vagina, but neither claim is scientifically true, or you could say they are both equally true by being equally wrong.

Sure, you adhere to the he said she said version of modern journalism that involves interviewing skills over research and clever turns of phrase over fact checking skills. You think of it as fairness when you just quote both sides of an issue, but why does the opposing side of an issue get to be completely ignorant of any facts whatsoever, yet still given the same level of credibility? They aren’t the other side of a controversy, they are the other side of common sense, the other side of facts and the other side of rationality. Explain to me why the stupid ignorant people need to be represented as the other side just so you can report on a controversy? I guess it sells newspapers but it also sells out your readers. Reporting everything that people say without context or checking it out to see if they are lying isn’t journalism- they have software that can turn speech into text. The software can’t figure out what the speech actually means- but you should be able to.

You want to write about controversy? How about a story about how mindnumbingly stupid anti-abortion advocates have to be to get worked up about a pill that would ultimately prevent abortions?  That’s almost as good as the real story here- Plan B is safely helping women find an easier way to avoid unwanted pregnancy and abortions and should have been made available over the counter years ago.

Whacko of the Week

JONAH, which stands for Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality, is using the research of a noted anti-gay extremist, who has his own new alternative to the gay problem. JONAH members might recognize it- it’s called a final solution. It’s the unlikely pairing of the century, although the century is still young.

They recently quoted from Dr. Paul Cameron’s report “Gay Domestic Violence Finally Measured.” In it, he makes the claim that “domestic violence in homosexual ‘domestic partnerships’ as a group is several times higher than for heterosexual married couples

That Cameron despises gays is a given, but what should haven given the Jewish group pause is his solution to the gay problem: executing gay males. According to an interview with former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, Cameron was recommending the extermination option as early as 1983.

In 1986, Cameron co-authored the book Special Report: AIDS, which advocated establishing concentration camps immediately for "sexually active homosexuals. According to Mark E. Pietrzyk in the News-Telegraph, "At least twice Cameron has advocated the tattooing of AIDS patients on the face, so that people would know when they were meeting with an infected person. The penalty for trying to hide the tattoo would be banishment to the Hawaiian island of Molokai, a former leper colony. In the event that a vaccine were developed to prevent AIDS, Cameron has proposed that homosexuals be castrated to prevent them from 'cheating' on nature."

And there was an article on Cameron’s official Web site so shocking I had to check it out on their site when I saw a reference to it because I found it so hard to believe it actually exited, the Family Research web site has an article called Gays in Nazi Germany. It is not a condemnation of the Nazi brutality against gays. Instead, he quotes at length German SS officer and convicted murderer Rudolf Höss’s observations about homosexuality and how the Nazi’s dealt with it. And he’s not disagreeing with him. He’s citing him as an expert. What, he couldn’t find a study by Josef Mengele to quote? One of the Nazi’s solutions was castration, something Cameron would not have a disagreement with since he has proposed it himself.

It would be shocking enough to learn that JONAH is quoting from him, but sdaly, Cameron’s influence is far greater than that. Dr. Paul Cameron is an evangelical Christian who created the Family Research Institute, which is the prime source for anti-gay statistics used by the anti-gay groups such as Focus on the Family, the American Family Association, the Family Research Council and the Traditional Values Coalition. He is a veritable quote factory of statistics.

Here are some of his greatest hits- Only 1% of the homosexual population in America will die of old age. The average life expectancy for a homosexual in the United States of America is 43 years of age. A lesbian can only expect to live to be 45 years of age. Lesbians are 300 times more likely to die in car accidents than heterosexual women. Homosexuals represent 2% of the population, yet today they're carrying 60% of the known cases of syphilis. There is a strong, disproportionate association between child molestation and homosexuality. Homosexual teachers influence their students to become homosexual. A third of homosexuals’ children become homosexual. Homosexuals are less economically productive, seldom produce children or raise them well, and are more likely to commit criminal acts. Gays are disproportionately responsible for serial killings, child molestation and other heinous crimes. And, gays eat their own boogers. Okay, I made up the last one, but the web site contains almost every slur against homosexuality and homosexuals that one could possibly imagine.

The only problem is that he pulls these statistics out of his ass, a place that apparently he is also mightily afraid of, lest some homosexual wander in there. His work does get published in academic journals. Not the kind that are peer reviewed or read by scientists and researchers, though. Much of his work was published  in the journal Psychological Reports, whose sole review process seems to be whether or not the author’s check clears. Vanity academics.

He uses lots of footnotes. Problem, is, the people he cites did not quite say what he claims. They got mad enough to complain, which ultimately wound up with him being kicked out of both the American Psychological Association and the American Sociological Association. The ASA stated that, "Dr. Cameron has consistently misinterpreted and misrepresented sociological research on sexuality, homosexuality, and lesbianism."

He’s not just a quack in homosexual research. The Family Research Institute was originally founded as the Institute for the Scientific Investigation of Sexuality, and their first act was to announce that Cameron planned to do a sex survey. He then announced, before doing the survey, that “The results will tend to indicate that those who lead sexually venturesome lives are more inclined toward suicide, are less happy, and contract more diseases." Gee, if you know the results ahead of time, you can certainly save a lot of money by not actually having to do the research. The questions on this survey were so bizarre and creepy that many people called the police to complain that perverts were running around the city asking sleazy questions. Although the 1983 study is still quoted by social conservative groups, it is in reality a classic example of fundamental flaws in methodology and statistical analysis, including sample sizes so small as to render any conclusions irrelevant. The study was absolutely worthless from a scientific standpoint, but pure gold for anti-sex and anti-gay zealots.

He really really hates gays. His organization is considered a hate site by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is an expert with hate groups. He says that "Homosexuality is an infectious appetite with personal and social consequences. It is like the dog that gets a taste for blood after killing its first victim and desires to get more victims thereafter with a ravenous hunger." He calls homosexuality a crime against humanity, and then, without the slightest bit of irony, he proposes solutions like extermination that are generally considered crimes against humanity.

So what drives Paul Cameron? I have a theory. He desperately wants to be fucked in the ass by a well hung stud, but knows he can’t allow that to happen. Its not just me saying this, though. As much as he hates gays, he seems to personally desire gay sex for himself even more. He wrote, and the quote comes from an article on the Southern Law Poverty Center site, I’m not making this up, "Marital sex tends toward the boring end. (I guess by that he means not the butt end) Generally, it doesn't deliver the kind of sheer sexual pleasure that homosexual sex does. If you isolate sexuality as something solely for one's own personal amusement, if all you want is the most satisfying orgasm you can get, then homosexuality seems too powerful to resist. The evidence is that men do a better job on men."

Based on his own statements, I think we can call Paul Cameron the best example of a self loathing gay man in the history of self-loathing gay men. If only he would stick to self-loathing.
