Politics In the military, the policy has been Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. In the Justice Department, the policy is just Don’t Work Here. In the never ending Justice Department scandal story, the latest are revelations that Monica Goodling, former senior counsel to former Attorney General Gonzales, was behind the firing of Leslie Hagan, apparently for suspicion of being a lesbian. Hagan, just before being fired, received the highest possible performance rating. People who worked with her have commented that she was probably the best qualified person in the nation for the job, working on Native American issues. Emails show that Monica Goodling removed part of Hagan’s job portfolio. And apparently, Goodling heard a rumor that Hagan was a lesbian. As one Republican source put it, "To some people, that's even worse than being a Democrat." This was in a Justice Department that made sure not to hire Democrats for career positions, despite the fact that doing so violated federal law. No one actually knows Hagan’s sexual orientation, not that it should matter. The incident is being investigated. Goodling is the first Justice Department official ever to plead the fifth amendment. With as many laws as Goodling apparently broke, she really should be in prison, discovering her inner LURD, which is prison slang for lesbian until release date. And we know that the Pentagon has issues with gays in the military, but should that homophobia also apply to civilians? In particular, civilians who just happen to be members of Congress. Democratic Representative Tammy Baldwin is openly lesbian, its not just a rumor. In fact, she is the only openly gay woman in Congress. And she has a partner. Naturally, she wanted to bring that partner on an official fact finding trip with other members of Congress. The problem was the provided transportation was a military transport- which denied her spouse the right to travel with her. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to intervene to request that Defense Secretary Robert Gates allow them to travel together. He did, but insists that all such requests require the intervention of the Speaker and will be decided n a case by case basis. And people still say that domestic partnership is just as good as marriage? Not when penny ante crap like this is pulled all the time. Separate is not equal. I am not a fan of the Randi Rhodes Show on Air America Radio. She’s too strident and does not seem well enough informed. And now she is on suspension, for representing Air America at a rally and calling Hillary Clinton a Big fucking whore. As I have said repeatedly, sexism in politics is not republican/democrat male/female – everyone does it. And calling anyone a fucking whore is just stupid- its redundant. If you are not fucking, you’re not really a whore. It’s sort of implied. Did you now that drinking bleach will prevent HIV? Or that smoking marijuana prevents pregnancy? If you do, then you were probably educated in Florida. A recent survey of teens found that these were just some of the common misconceptions about sex, misconceptions that can lead to conception, and disease. Amazingly, though, the Florida Legislature seems to realize the culprit- Abstinence only Education. A bill looks like it may pass that will require teaching kids about things like disease prevention and birth control- little things that abstinence only education sort of glosses over while they are busy twisting science and making up statistics to scare kids out of ever having sex. The University of Florida study showed that the state's sex education programs vary widely in content, get little class time and that some students miss out entirely. And teenagers are filling the education vacuum with typical teenage urban mythology about sex- which is sadly not all that more inaccurate than what they are taught in abstinence only classes. Things are looking pretty bleak for the Republicans in the next election, but there was one bright spot. They thought they had a good chance of taking House District 56 in Colorado. They found a young articulate very wealthy candidate in Muhammad Ali Hasan. He is the son of one of Colorado’s biggest Republican fundraisers. He doesn’t have to work, so he has plenty of time to campaign. Things are looking a little less bright. He was dating his campaign publicist. Then she broke it off. See he hired a company to hack into her computer and track her whereabouts. He used that information to follow her and intimidate her. Then she filed for a restraining order, which she dropped after pressure from local Republican party officials. They told her that she was embarrassing the Republican Party. I don’t know, they seem to do that pretty well on their own. Criminal charges are being investigated. I really like the Evolve television ads for Trojan condoms featuring pigs who turn into attractive men when they get a condom. Durex decided to take things in the opposite direction with their condom advertising. Such as putting the butts of women in thongs on turnstile doors in a subway. I don’t think that ads for condoms should gross you out, but this one with the bandaids at the edges of a woman’s mouth to promote their larger XXL brand, does just that. This ad manages to make the pigs look good. It’s the ten year anniversary of the FDA approval of Viagra. I suggest you celebrate with a good stiff one. Before Paypal was acquired by EBay, it was pretty liberal about sex related products. After the purchase, they clamped down. Not surprising for a company running by a heavy hitting Republican with political aspirations. Now they have taken it to extremes. After four years of processing subscription payments for Going Natural magazine, PayPal has abruptly cancelled service to its publisher, the Federation of Canadian Naturists. This is a nudist magazine. The company claimed in emails to the FCN that the magazine is pornographic, and sells "sexually oriented goods or services involving minors" or "services for which the purpose is to facilitate meetings for sexually oriented activities." None of which is accurate, of course, but PayPal is not one to change its mind simply based on facts. It has also cancelled the services of other naturist organizations, because natural apparently scares the hell out of them. Technically, the outright ban of adult businesses in your city is unconstitutional, so what cities typically try and do is to regulate them into oblivion. John Mazziotti, the mayor of Palm Beach, Florida wants to forget about the niceties and simply send them all into oblivion. He is pushing for a compete ban. Currently the city council is looking at zoning them away, well, the only one in town, anyway. That’s not good enough for the mayor or city councilman and double negative expert Ed Geier, who said ““They should not go anywhere in this city. That’s where they should not go.” Ed should probably not speak in public anywhere, which is where he should probably not speak. And if history is any guide, we should expect to see the mayor get caught with a hooker any day now. A group of 8 men are on trial in London for a plot to blow up airplanes. They had packed their suitcases with condoms and porn to make security officials think that they weren’t Muslim. Or maybe it was to make officials think that they were not plane blower uppers, because guys with lots of condoms and porn usually have a lot less reason to blow themselves up on a plane.
Sexvestigation On October 21st of last year we did a sexvestigation of a particularly unpleasant subject – rape. There has been enough in the news lately to merit a second look. First, the good news. Overall, the latest statistics seem to show that the overall incidence of rape is down, which seems to be the global pattern in countries with widespread availability of pornography. This, of course, is just the opposite of what censorship proponents claim, but it seems to be pretty consistent. The more liberal a country is about sex, the lower the incidence of rape. The reverse is also true. While rape overall seems to be down, it seems to be up perpetrated by people who work for our government. And the official government response has been alarmingly weak. And what amazes me is the lack of outrage about all of this. There were the upsetting stories we’ve recently reported about multiple incidents of police misconduct that turned strip searches and detention into essentially forms of rape, with all of the humiliation and subjugation that go along with it. And where is the outrage over the cover-ups of these incidents, and the fact that the officers involved will never get the punishment they deserve? Our female soldiers in Iraq are being raped in their own quarters by fellow soldiers at an alarming rate. A soldier was raped by her doctor. Women serving in Iraq are much more likely to be raped by fellow soldiers than killed by enemy fire. Representative Jane Harmon reported that on a visit to the West Los Angeles Veterans Healthcare Center, she was told by doctors that 41 percent of female veterans seen at the clinic reported sexual assault while in the military. From 2004 to 2007, reported rapes increased 74%. And there seems to be little national outrage over the military contractor rapes. Sure, maybe we are overwhelmed by the sheer constant horror of the mess we’ve made in Iraq, but this is American citizens being raped by their fellow employees while the companies we pay billions let it happen, cover it up, and try and prevent the women from having their day in court while protecting the rapists. Even though many women have come forward, and members of Congress have demanded action, the Justice Department has done little. Now another woman, a 42 year old paramedic working for KBR, has come forward. It’s the same story, drugging, then a brutal rape that leaves the woman bruised and bleeding. KBR discouraged her from reporting it. There was no written medical protocol for sexual assault. They asked her to sign non-disclosure agreements. They confiscated her computer, her only lifeline to the outside world after she used it to contact a lawyer. And her story is not unique. One lawyer reported that he has 15 clients alleging rape or sexual harassment by KBR who are unable to get justice. Nor is KBR the only offender, although they are one of the worst. Any other company would be paying hundreds of millions in settlements. Instead, the rapists and KBR face little punishment, protected by bizarre legal rules that make Iraq a legal free for all, their ability to force victims into arbitration that almost always favors the company, and a Justice Department and a Pentagon willing to turn a blind eye to not just the hundreds of millions of dollars these companies have misappropriated, but to the much worse assault of American citizens facilitated by these very companies. And where is the outrage? And military contractors are not the only ones trying to keep rape victims from getting a fair shake from the legal system. A Federal appeals court just ruled that a judge can ban the use of the word rape in a rape trial because it is too inflammatory. In a Nebraska case, Lancaster County District Judge Jeffre Cheuvront banned the victim from using specific words in her testimony- like “rape kit” , “rape, or “victim.” The jury was never told about these word bans. She was to describe the rape using the terms sex and intercourse. Hardly the same thing. The rape victim, Tory Bowen (who has come forward publicly) refused, saying that the restrictions amounted to forcing her to commit perjury on the stand. The judge then declared a mistrial and threw out the case. Her rapist walked away a free man. Seems like a slam dunk for a lawsuit, but the appeals court turned them down, claiming they did not have jurisdiction. Fortunately, Bowen is a brave fighter, and will take this all the way to the Supreme Court if she has to. Outrage? Do a Google news search for this story. Mainstream media barely covers it. And they barely cover the story about what hospitals do to women after they are raped. Did you know who pays for the rape kit in most states? It is gathering evidence for the police, but the victim has to pay. Can you imagine what would happen if we sent the bill for a crime scene investigation to the victim, but this is essentially the same thing. And if she wants emergency contraception, the hospital can legally say no on completely irrational so-called moral grounds. And many do, including the hospital of my birth. Its not an isolated incident, and with the Catholic Church acquiring so many hospitals, incidences of this are increasing. Rape is not about sex, it is a form of violent control, a brutal way to humiliate and dominate a victim. I suppose that when a government sees violence and domination as a primary form of foreign policy, it is little surprising that that same government is not all that upset about rape.
Whacko of the Week Say hello to Jill Stanek. She is this week’s Whacko of the Week. She is an anti-abortion and anti-gay activist and a columnist on the World Net Daily, sort of a conservative online version of the Weekly World News. Instead of menacing aliens and whacky conspiracy theories, they mostly report on menacing liberals and whacky conspiracy theories. Here is what she had to say recently about the HPV vaccine: "There is only one good reason a virtuous young woman should consider getting the HPV vaccination. That is if the man she plans to marry has had sex with other women, meaning he could be infected with HPV or an array of other STDs. I don't know why a virtuous young woman would want to marry such a man, but there you go." Where she is going to find this hypothetical virtuous young woman I don’t know. She opposes mandating the vaccine as anti-women and patriarchal, while facetiously suggesting that there be a mandate that every 11 year old boy carry a condom in his pocket. Its not a bad idea, but she misses the obvious- that HPV has been linked to oral cancers and maybe boys should be vaccinated as well. One of her articles on WND reported what few have been bold enough to say. Abortionists eat the fetuses. That’s right, according to Stanek, they aren’t just abortion mills, they are also buffets. She makes this assumption because a doctor allegedly kept fetuses in a refrigerator. In her column, she also wrote this about abortion providers: “Most seem to meet with one of three professional demises: imprisonment for sexual assault; medical license revocation for malpractice; or death, alone in their beds, while watching porn flicks after overdosing on heroin.” I think that’s supposed to be humor. She opposes presidential candidate Barack Obama, and makes a number of unusual claims about him. She writes that Obama supports infanticide, and claims that she knows this personally since she testified before his committee when he was an Illinois State Senator. I guess, like Bush, she has the ability toi look into people’s eyes and see their soul. She writes that if Obama becomes president, he will exacerbate the AIDS crises by promoting homosexuality. I suspect that Obama is never going to have a campaign platform along the lines of “Gay sex: try it in the butt at least once before you decide.” She calls the homosexual and abortion lobbies evil twins. Both want to selfishly commit illicit sex without physical or moral consequences. Astonishing. People want to have sex without pregnancy or disease. Damn their souls. And now these folks have their own lobbies? Of course, she opposes contraception. To her, there is little difference between it and abortion. She believes God should decide whether you get pregnant or not, not you. Contraception just interferes with God’s plan. So how do you know when God wants you to have sex? And can Christian men get away with using the pickup line on fellow Christians that “Its Gods plan for me to have sex with you.” And is he being dishonest when he fails to also mention that it is God’s plan for her to get pregnant and become an unwed mother and live in a trailer with her baby? She testified before the FDA on the Plan B pill, where she claimed that over the counter availability endangered young girls because it would become a tool for sexual predators. She stated “Rapists and incestuous predators could stock up on emergency contraceptives, keeping a stash in their bedroom drawers or pockets to give to their victims after committing each sexual crime.” In the same testimony, though, she also quotes research from Planned Parenthood that shows that "Teenage girls with older partners are more likely to become pregnant than those with partners closer in age." SO maybe their having a pocket full of Plan B is not such a bad idea. Idiot activist and commentators like Jill Stanek are all too common. She was acknowledged by the current president of the United States, and gets listened to by a lot of people. And she’s just whacko.
Entertainment For the government of communist East Germany, pornography was a disease of capitalism. Apparently, that was only if pornography was sold, not if the government itself made the pornography for the entertainment of government officials. Apparently, that is exactly what the East German military did, making short porn films for the entertainment of top army brass and visiting Generals from Warsaw pact nations. The films have recently been discovered in the Stasi files in Berlin. Titles included Private Werner’s Big Surprise and Fucking for the Fatherland. A secret porn unit was set up in 1982 within a barracks of the army in Biesdorf in East Berlin, churning out grainy short subjects. They had soldiers measured looking for those with the appropriate equipment, and had a team of 160 working on the production of the films. The entertainment industry publication Variety wrote in a review that Showtime had managed to do something most other channels did not- they aired an awards show that was not dull. The awards show? The Adult Video News Awards, the porn industry’s version of the Oscars. Sex seems to be all over Second Life, the most famous of the online virtual worlds. And there are a number of virtual worlds with sexual themes. SO it is surprising that the developer of one of the best known of those adult sites, RedLightCenter.com, and frequent Internet industry speaker CEO Brian Shuster, was uninvited from speaking at the Virtual Worlds 2008 conference. Originally scheduled to appear on several panels, he was asked not to show up because of his adult content. Because what could a technology leader from an industry that has long been a technology leader possibly have to contribute at a technology conference? The popular 80’s teen book series Sweet Valley High is returning to book stores. With some editing. Seems the Wakefield twins in the original were way too fat at “a perfect size 6”. In the new editions, they’ve been slimmed down to a miniscule “perfect size 4.” Nothing like helping young teens develop appropriate self-images about their bodies. And in who is getting naked now, Jamie Lee Curtis, who is aging very gracefully. I remember seeing her in Trading Places when she took off her top and thinking, gee, I really like Jamie Lee Curtis. She is still not afraid to show a little skin, appearing apparently nude on the cover of AARP. She looks great, and kudos to AARP for recognizing that older women can be really sexy as well. And Mischa Barton is quite comfortable with doing topless scenes, if it is appropriate to the script. But she has to get very comfortable with a director before she lets him shoot her butt. Fortunately, she got quite comfy with Richard Attenborough, who shot her both topless and a quick rear view in last year’s Closing the Ring. Here’s hoping that the lovely Barton gets along well with all of her future directors. Kate Beckinsale was asked by an interviewer what her best feature was. She responded: “My best feature is unfortunately a private matter, although I’m told it is spectacular. But you can’t really walk it down the red carpet. What can I say?” When the interviewer still didn’t get it, she had to silently mouth “my twat”. Kate is known for her rather uninhibited interviews. In another interview, the Underworld star noted how much she dislikes Sushi, and stated that she would rather eat Vagina than Sushi. “I have to say, sushi freaks me out more than almost anything. At least a vagina would be warm.” Boy, I completely agree with her on this one. In mainstream films, here is what is out this upcoming week on DVD. In When Evil Calls, a text message granting the recipient's wildest desires triggers a series of freakishly gory accidents. Thank goodness that the girls do take time away from texting for a little naked basketball. I really enjoyed Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, even though it never gained the traction at the box office many thought it would. And maybe the full frontal male nudity was a little much for some in the orgy scene. But get over your homophobia guys, it was hilarious, and the music was surprisingly good in a very funny well-acted parody with a reasonable share of nudity. The Cook is a by the numbers slasher film, where a deranged killer goes on a killing spree against a full range of female stereotypes: The Slut, The Stoner, The Bible Beater, The Dumb Hot Blonde, The Predatory Lesbian, The Tease, The Dominatrix and The Good Girl. And, of course, they get naked a lot, and of course, they have to be punished for such misdeed by being brutally killed in classic horror movie morality. And I’m not quite sure if Nina Fehran is screaming in pleasure, in horror, or simply because there are so few roles for women that don’t involve being a stereotype threatened with imminent slaughter. Why is it that in movies, the path to sexual experimentation also leads down the path to self-destruction. Pineapple follows in that tradition, with a man responding to his wife being unfaithful to him by hooking up with a stripper, experimenting sexually, and getting in hock to his drug dealer. And, of course, he is seduced into self-destruction by a beautiful but dangerous beauty. Because men are never responsible for their own self-destruction – its always the woman’s fault. On the plus side, there is nudity, three-ways, and strippers. I don’t really know who Laura Judd is, but she appears in the French film The House, and what she appears in, which is nothing at all, really makes me want to see the movie. And I sort of can’t stand French movies. . Do I like her more for her acting or her willingness to do full nude scenes? The movie has some sort of plot about a man who gets divorced and winds up with two sisters. In the world of porn, where nobody has to defend getting naked, following up on their huge success with The Babysitters, Digital Playground has just released Cheerleaders. It stars Jesse Jane, Stoya, Shay Jordan and Adrianna Lynn (who has since left the company) with additional performances by Memphis Monroe, Shawna Lenee, Alexis Texas, Camryn Kiss, Brianna Love, Lexxi Tyler and Priya Rai. It boasts a nine girl orgy, which beats the pants off, quite literally, the original 70’s softcore The Cheerleaders film which was my first exposure to adult entertainment. It’s out in a two disc set and on Blu_Ray.
Adam and Eve Pictures Independent Adult Cinema division just released Young Hollywood. Starring Kimberly Kane, Ashley Blue, Lindsey Meadows, Adrianna Nicole, Mandy Morbid and Lystra in "a look at the sexual adventures of celebrity porn stars, hipster models and video vixens living in Hollywood." Finally, a movie about the people we hang out with.
SO, whatever happened to legendary golden age adult stars Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Keisha, Kylie Ireland and Lisa Ann? They are back, all in one film, in Tom Byron’s Seasoned Players 4: MILF Superstars. The MILF genre (which stands for moms I’d like to fuck for those of you living in a cave) is one of the fast growing categories in adult. And what has changed with the years? Referring to golden age legend himself Tom Byron, Kylie Ireland noted “We are both much nastier now.”
Speaking of the golden age of porn, some 176 Cal Vista titles from the 70’s and early 80’s are coming out on DVD for the first time, thanks to classic porn distributor VCX. This collection includes classics such as Nothing to Hide, Eruption, and Annette Haven in The Hot One. |
Our show goes on the road, and we are always looking for interesting venues
